Are the Polar Plunge® events in Virginia still happening due to COVID-19?
This year, Plunge is going to look a little different. While we can’t bring the colony together for in-person events, we still want you to take the plunge – in your own hands. Plunge from the comfort of your own home, however you’d like, while raising money for 23,000 athletes of Special Olympics who need you now more than ever.
Can we still plunge this season?
We want you to plunge it your way! Whether that means chilling poolside for an icy dip, running a chilly 5K, or staying indoors by the fire, this one is for you. Take photos and videos plunging and post them to social media using the hashtag #plungeyourway. Take your Plunge before our virtual ceremony on Saturday, February 6 for your chance to be featured in the celebration or in our meet the colony series throughout Plunge season.
Please remember to follow CDC social distancing recommendations and state/local guidelines if you plan to host your own Plunge event!
When should I plunge It My Way?
Plungers are encouraged to host their personal plunges whenever works best for you and your team! To earn the coolest perks and incentives in time, be sure to reach your fundraising goals on or before February 6.
How will I receive my incentives?
From t-shirts and towels to cozy hooded sweatshirts – the more cash you raise, the more swag you earn! You can check out our all-new incentives here. All incentives will be mailed to the address you used at the time of online registration.
Raise $100 by January 20 to receive your Plunge pack - t-shirt, mask, and koozie - before Plunge Saturday. Plungers that reach $100 after January 20 will receive their Plunge Pack along with all other incentives after the event. Notifications will be sent upon mailing.
I received cash or check donations. Now what?
All offline donations should be mailed to Special Olympics Virginia, Attention: Polar Plunge, 3212 Skipwith Road, Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23294. Make sure to include the name of the Plunger who should receive credit for the donation. All donations will be added within 5 business days of receipt.
