Step by Step how to get started!
(Registering your team)

Be invigorated as never before. Join an anticipated 3,500 thrill-seekers who will be braving the chilly Atlantic Ocean wearing nothing but swimsuits or costumes.

It takes one person to inspire others to get involved. Share the excitement and experience with your coworkers, family and friends.
Here is how to get started:

Step1: Recruit at least 9 people to plunge with you

Step 2: Pre-register your team by clicking here.

Step 3: Distribute plunger information to team member. Each plunger will need a registration form which can be downloaded here or found inside the brochure and waiver. Make sure the registration form for EACH plunger has your team name on it.

Step 4: Set your team fundraising goal. The minimum is $100 per plunger. Just remember, the higher your goal, the more opportunities we can provide to our Special Olympians. You are also competing against other teams in your division for the team that raises the most money.

Step5: Set up at www.firstgiving.com/SOVA website for your team. It takes 5 minutes and requires no advance computer skills. Encourage your team members to make their own page under your team page. Instructions can be downloaded here.

Step 6: Gather your registration materials.

• You will need your registration form that you will either download or completed from the brochure.
• Sign your waiver.
• Bring your donation. If you used www.Firstgiving.com print off your website to record your online donation.

Step 7: Drop off your registration form and donations early to avoid long lines. We will also give the first 500 plungers to register a great plunge gift!

During the week of Jan 23rd-26th, register at our Special Olympics Virginia office. We are located in Suite 600 in the Bank of America building in Virginia Beaches Town Center (Map quest address: 283 Constitution Dr. Virginia Beach 23462). We will register plunger from 10am- 4pm.

During the week of January 29th to February 2nd, we will register plungers at the Ramada Inn at 6th and Atlantic from 2pm- 7pm.

Step 8: If you don’t register early, come to the Ramada Inn (enter from the boardwalk) on the plunge day from 10am to Plunge-time. Just make sure you go to a team line by 1pm. So your donation can be credited to your team.

Teams are placed in divisions based on size and are awarded for the most money raised and the largest team.

Division 4		10-19 Plungers
Division 3		20-29 Plungers
Division 2		30-39 Plungers
Division 1		40 Plus Plungers
Law Enforcement Teams
Restaurant Teams
